Package Management In OSX

Package management in macOS is non-existent. Every^[1] little Linux distro manages to maintain a package repository, but somehow Apple can't? The best I've come across is Homebrew. Apple does provide an App Store, but it only carries a limited selection of GUI applications, mostly paid.
